One punch. Two. Three, four, five… After a while he lost count. Blow after blow struck his battered body. Thrown against the wall. Kicked. No end to the attack.

“FIGHT,” Sasuke screamed, “FIGHT BACK, DOBE!”

“No,” was the hoarse reply.

Sasuke growled and hit him again.

“WHY?! WHY NOT?!”

Silence. More abuse.

And Naruto took it all.

All the abuse, the taunting, the pain…he felt he owed Sasuke that much.

“…because I deserve it.”

Pausing the pain, the young Uchiha’s face contorted in a mixture of disgust and amusement.

“What?”

“I…failed you, Sasuke. I failed you, Sakura, Kakashi-sensei…everyone. I broke my promise.”

Naruto wiped away a trickle  of blood from the corner of this mouth, keeping his eyes lowered to the floor.

“I promised you…everybody…I would bring you home.”

Sasuke broke out in cruel laughter, making a mockery of Naruto’s feelings.

“Baka, you really thought you could do the impossible?! You will never change!”

Grabbing the blonde by his collar, he lifted Naruto up off the ground, lowered eyes now forced to stare deep into the red sharingan gaze below him.

“You’ve always been an idealistic fool, Naruto! You dream of things you can never have and never achieve! …Your dreams are worthless. Just as you have always been…worthless.”

Sasuke released his curse mark and a frighteningly beautiful black design spread across his flesh.

“I will destroy you!”

“If you wanted me dead, Sasuke, you could have killed me at anytime…”

Infuriated, Sasuke took his rage out on his former teammate. Naruto’s eyes glazed over; years of ninja training had taught him to feel no pain. Physical, mental…no pain. Bones broke, blood was shed, and Naruto never even flinched. The more Sasuke hit the unresponsive boy, the more he grew angry.

Worthless,” was the echo in Naruto’s head, “as you’ve always been… worthless… worthless… worthless…

A crushing blow to his stomach made Naruto double over, blood sputtering out of his mouth and spattering onto Sasuke’s clothes. Wicked laughter arose over the mantra in his head.

“What’s wrong, teme? Too weak to stand anymore? You weak, stupid fool… I’ll always be stronger then you. Always! I have power you can never match, never defeat!”

Again, the cursed ninja ended his words with violence. But it did not matter. The violence, the pain…it no longer registered to Naruto. He was on the edge.

“Sss…Sasuke…”

Naruto’s body could take no more. His eyes fluttered closed as his legs gave way, falling first to his knees, then finally all the way to the ground. His breathing was labored through broken ribs and when if finally came out the air was choked back by the blood that obstructed his throat.

Tsk tsk…

Naruto opened one swollen eye, far-away gaze on the feet by his face. The voice above him now seemed quieter and distant, no longer shouting.

“You were right. You failed. But why does that bother you now, dobe? You’ve been a failure your whole worthless life. You were a failure at school, at making friends…at everything.”

“Love,” Naruto rasped.

Sasuke’s eyes narrowed. He placed a foot on Naruto’s chest, eliciting a painful sputtering cough from his victim.

“What the hell do you mean, ‘love?’”

When a barely conscious Naruto did not answer, Sasuke leaned more of his weight on the Konoha ninja’s cracked ribs. Crying out in newfound agony, all notion of forgetting the pain lost, Naruto made a feeble attempt to push the foot off him with the hand and arm that were not broken. But predictably he failed.

“Baka Naruto – you’re too weak! Now, tell me what you mean!”

Though Naruto was teetering on the brink of blackness, he rasped in a rugged, painful breath and spoke.

“I… failed… at love. …I wanted to… to bring you… back… because I love… I love you…”

Sasuke’s eyes widened with terror and he backed away from his fallen former teammate.

“N-No! You’re a liar, dobe! LIAR!”

“I… love you… Sasuke-kun…”

“NOOOO!”

Sasuke was blinded by confusion and rage. His curse marks flared and dimly glowed. Naruto only stared with a dead, glassy gaze.

“Sss… Sasuke-kun… please, come home… home…”

Drawing his sword, Sasuke cried out.

“No! Shut up! Baka, you never told me! You never told me!”

“I love—”

With a loud cry of anguish and rage, Sasuke brought his blade down on Naruto. Eyes suddenly wide, Naruto’s mouth opened in a silent scream. Sasuke stood over the other’s body, his sword plunged deep into the young man’s chest. Naruto gasped for air, but was unable to find any. A broken hand, shaky and trembling, reached out to his former friend for help. His eyes begged for the mercy his voice could not convey. But Sasuke gave him none, and soon the boy who housed a demon within fell limp, his fear faded away, and his body grew cold and stiff. With Naruto’s life extinguished, Sasuke slowly withdrew his blade, stepped back, and stared at the corpse. He sheathed his still bloody blade and without a backward glance, he walked away.

Kabuto was busying himself in Orochimaru’s Otogakure hideout when Sasuke returned.

“Where have you been,” Kabuto absentmindedly asked, not even bothering to look up at him, “Orochimaru-sama has been looking for you.”

“I was… busy.”

Kabuto snorted in contempt. Damn brat. But, Orochimaru-sama need him, so he tried his best to keep his attitude towards the boy in check.

“Well, explain that to him, then. If you’re lucky he’ll… he’ll…”

Kabuto’s voice trailed off as he finally laid eyes on Sasuke.

“What the hell have you been doing?! You’re covered in blood—”

“Fuck off.”

Grinning, Kabuto glided swiftly over to the Uchiha boy.

“Aw, what? Did someone look at you the wrong way today? Did you murder them just for the fun of it? You little shit, your short temper is going to get you in trouble, you know that?”

A short pause, and then Kabuto was pinned to a wall.

“What the hell, you fuckin’ brat! When Orochimaru-sama hears about this—”

“Shut up.”

The two nins connected their gaze and in an instant the color drained from Kabuto’s face. Terrified and speechless, Kabuto stared fixated at those eyes.

“Sasuke-kun, what are you doing to Kabuto?”

Kabuto looked past Sasuke and heaved a heavy sigh of relief.

“Orochimaru-sama! The little brat… Sasuke… he’s trying to kill me!”

Orochimaru moved silently through the dimly lit room, ready to pry his protégé off Kabuto if need be.

“Sasuke-kun, why—”

“Forgive me, Orochimaru-sama,” Sasuke said, his voice low and monotone.

He released his hold on Kabuto and turned to the snake ninja, head lowered.

“Forgive me. I only… lost my temper.”

Sasuke lifted his head with the last words, letting his mangekyou sharingan gaze meet his Master’s disapproving stare. The young Uchiha reached behind him for his bloodstained sword.

“I promise, Master, it won’t happen ever again…”
...It's not hot at all. Sorry if you thought it would be anything but angst. I haven't been in a yaoi-writing mood lately, and I have a Tenzou/Yamato&Iruka fic to finish... *sigh*

Okay, so I would appreciate if I don't get too many comments on how horrible it is to kill Naruto. I know it's horrible - I wrote it. ^__^ But it was just an idea in my head, an AU situation, so... yeah. But if any major revisions are needed, just say so, b/c i didn't proofread.

ARRRG! I HAVE SO MUCH ART/WRITING TO FINISH!

I don't Naruto very well so most of this was beyond me. I found it really cool how the tone at the beginning is very fast and vague. It really pulls the reader in, wondering what's going on. It was perfect how then it started to slow down, a little more narrative between the talking. Then, at the intense 'love' part, how there was even more narrative, giving us more emotion and heightening the reader's emotion while at the same time calming them down with more words and not such quick moving between what was going on. :) Very good.

The grammar girl in me has to point out that you used 'then' inappropriately. It may have been an accident but for years I did because I didn't know the reasons between using then and than. Then is in association to time while than works for anything else... pretty much comparisons. 'stronger than you.'

Just thought I'd point that out. If you knew the difference already and just messed up, my bad. Sorries.
